Milano Design Week 2017
Last week in a short trip to Milano, I was thrilled for the 7th year in a row by being surrounded by objects and installations throughout the city that amaze visitors by their beauty and perfection. This year you could find on media communications of Salone del Mobile, the fair of furniture, the slogan ( image below) that says: Design is a state and Milano is its capital, which I truly agree with. I have been to other fairs around the world but nothing compares to size and quality of the fair and the events around and exhibitions the city during 5 days of the Design Week.
One of the interesting installations this year belonged to Nendo and was situated in Jim Sanders showroom in the center of Milano, right in front of Castello Sforzesco. A waiting time of 2hours in a long line to enter was followed by a mesmerizing experience of light and materials in space, curated under them: invisible line. I personally liked a lot the idea of a set of furniture that by opening their doors and drawers, a trace of their movement, was captured in space by metallic lines.
''Ventura Lambrate'' organizers, had brought some installation to the more central area, in empty spaces under the train tracks arriving at the iconic Milano train station ''centrale''. also long line to get in each space made me think that next year I should just come a bit earlier to avoid the crowd on the weekends. Anyways it was a short nice trip to meet old friends and colleagues and have a bit of that Milanese experience I had been missing. All remains to say is: A presto Milano!
